A United Airlines Boeing 787 pilot departing from Los Angeles to Shanghai had to turn back after forgetting his passport.

On Saturday afternoon (22nd), United Airlines flight 198, operated by a Boeing 787, had to make a U-turn because the pilot forgot his passport. Passengers experienced a delay of over six hours.

The aircraft departed from Los Angeles International Airport at around 2 PM with 257 passengers and 13 crew members en route to Shanghai, China. The United Airlines plane returned to its departure point two hours into the flight.

“The pilot did not have his passport onboard. We arranged for a new crew to take our customers to their destination later that evening. Passengers were provided with meal vouchers and compensation,” stated United Airlines.
